Project Description

Artist Robert Owen and lighting designers Electrolight were selected by the Arts Centre, through the Maxwell and Merle Carroll bequest, to create two major works of art for the two new foyer areas at the redeveloped Hamer Hall. 'Silence' consists of seven crystal encrusted, tubular stainless steel sculptures of varying sizes suspended from the existing concrete slab above. 'Falling Light' is a large perforated aluminium panel fixed to the ceiling with over one thousand LED lights situated behind that are programmed to project numerous constellations beyond the panel. MacLeod Consulting worked with Robert and Electrolight in determining suitable structural loadings, appropriate member sizes, and the required connections to the existing structure.
