Project Description

Newport Gardens Early Years Centre is a development that consolidates services from a nearby childcare, kindergarten and toy library in a single centrally based new facility. The 1900m2 building will include services such as childcare, a kindergarten, maternal child health, Hobsons Bay Toy Library, Yooralla, community rooms, family support services, and other early years programs.

The structure designed by MacLeod Consulting includes:

  • Suspended concrete slab on steel screw piles.
  • Lightweight timber roof framing with minimal steel.
  • Numerous landscape structures in the childrens outside play area.

Civil design included:

  • Bulk earthworks.
  • 40 space car park.
  • Site drainage, roof drainage, and seepage drainage.
  • Pavement design.
  • Water sensitive urban design (WSUD) features such as bio retention swales.
  • Water storage for recycling.
