Project Description

Fjall is a luxury apartment redevelopment situated at Falls Creek ski village. This redevelopment of a tired 1970’s building included the following challenges for MacLeod Consulting:

  • Alterations of the existing four storey Hebel wall and floor system building for rearrangement of apartment walls, new lift installation, new entry foyers, new roof forms and rain screen.
  • Additions to the existing building for steel framed and timber clad balconies, new concrete entry ramps, steps and base stone walls.
  • Lowest level construction and extensions beyond the original habitable building area.

The structural works for this project were particularly challenging as the existing Hebel panels had relatively low bearing capacity for the introduced opening lintels support necessitating a top-down construction sequence for the introduction of progressive supplementary structural load capacity.

Civil design by MacLeod Consulting included site surface drainage, sub surface drainage works for retaining walls and water storage for recycling.
