Project Description
The Doveton College Regeneration Project is a unique project aimed at providing a
fully integrated model of education and community support services for
children from birth to early adulthood. Stage 2 marks the completion of
the project with the addition of a gymnasium and fitness centre
building; general learning, technology, library and multimedia building;
a home economics and performing arts building; and an agora roof over a
large internal courtyard linking the three new buildings with stage 1
buildings.
The framing consists of:
- Part steel portal framed and part steel and timber framed two
storey gymnasium and fitness building up to three metres below ground
level. Precast concrete panels are used for retention and to support the
reinforced concrete ground floor slab above.
- Ten metre high steel two-way portal framed agora roof with spans of up to fifteen metres.
- Remaining buildings are double storey with lightweight timber roof
framing with minimal steel, and post-tensioned first floor slabs
supported on precast concrete panels.
Civil works involved stormwater drainage and extensive landscaping works.
