Project Description

MacLeod Consulting provided full structural and civil consulting engineering services for the Doveton College Regeneration Project.  This project is unique in that two primary schools and a secondary school are merging into one facility aimed at providing a fully integrated model of education and community support services for children from birth to early adulthood. The facility combines early childhood and support services, school and adult education and a community social hub.

Stage 1 consists of three learning house buildings, two specialist buildings, an administration/early childhood/community support services building, hardcourts, soccer field and extensive civil works and landscaping over the 30,000 square metre site. Three of the buildings are single storey with steel and timber framed roofs. The remainder are double storey with post tensioned in-situ concrete first floor slabs, precast panel loadbearing walls and in-situ columns, and steel and timber framed roofs.

Challenges of the project included large existing trees to maintain and managing overland flows through the tight and sloping site.
